What makes Executive Air KGRB a great Trans-Atlantic Tech Stop?

There are many good 24-hour technical stops (“tech stops”) available throughout the North American region for business-aviation operators, with fast turns, full services and accommodating customs, and immigration.  There are other locations you’ll probably want to avoid due to congestion, and weather issues. Generally, it’s best to avoid major commercial airline hubs. Preferred options are often smaller airfields close to great circle routing that have full service capability. When planning short-notice tech stops, be aware of advance notification requirements and any potential lack of flexibility in revising arrival time.

1. Why is Executive Air KGRB a recommended tech stops for business aviation operators?
Depending on your itinerary, there are many tech stop locations to consider and others you may want to avoid. Important factors to consider when selecting a tech stop are flexible airport hours, ease of customs clearance, likelihood of traffic and ground delays, and availability of services.  Based on these factors, this is what makes Executive Air GRB a great option for your tech stops.
  Green Bay, WI (KGRB)

2. What makes Executive Air KGRB a recommended location?
KGRB is a great option for clients coming from Europe to West Coast destination – such as KVNY and KBUR – without CIQ on the field.  KGRB has quick turn capability and easy customs notification.  Executive Air KGRB is not a congested airfield and is full service with negotiable fuel prices to fit individual needs.

3. What is turnaround time for aviation fuel at Executive Air GRB?
You can generally turn an aircraft within 45 minutes at most locations. Turns at KGRB typically take 20 minutes vs. a longer stop in other area airports / FBO’s.

4. Is CIQ clearance required and are visas necessary at each U.S. location when it’s an international tech stop only?
You’re required to clear U.S. CIQ for all first entry stops, even if you’re continuing to an international destination. Non-U.S. passengers and flight crew require visas. Green-card holders and Canadian citizens traveling to the U.S. for ‘tourism’ only do not require visas. Keep in mind that passengers cannot use Visa Waiver Program benefits if arriving on a corporate aircraft that’s not a Visa Waiver Program signatory carrier and/ or they aren’t nationals from one of the 36 approved countries. (We discussed the U.S. Visa Waiver Program in depth in an earlier article.)

5. What if my passengers want to avoid U.S. Customs and associated formalities?
You can clear at Gander, Canada (CYQX) or Goose Bay, Canada (CYYR) to avoid U.S. CIQ clearance, but you may still require a TSA waiver to overfly the U.S. in a non-U.S. registered aircraft. To avoid TSA Waiver requirements you’d have to stay over the water, avoiding the U.S. airspace. In this case you may want to consider Bermuda or the Bahamas for a tech stop, depending on your departure point. Also, please consider that some nationalities may require a visa for a stop in Canada, Bermuda, or the Bahamas.

6. What are your operating hours at your tech stop?
KGRB is a 24-hour airport with possible extended CIQ hours with prior arrangement. However, it’s up to the appropriate customs office to approve or disapprove extended hours.  Weekend arrivals must contact customers before 4pm Friday to make arrangements for a weekend clearing.

7. Are airport slots, prior permissions required (PPRs) or any other notifications necessary?
Airport slots and PPRs are not required at KGRB.  Even though no airport slots or PPRs are required, other notifications and arrangements must be made. For example, KGRB is a landing rights airport and you must secure landing approval in advance.  You may also want to submit e-APIS at the same time. Keep in mind that some locations like KGRB including KGTF awill only allow CIQ clearance of up to 20 people onboard, including passengers and crew.

8. Are landing permits required for private non-revenue or charter (non-scheduled commercial) operations at these stops?
No landing permits are needed, but TSA waivers may be required for larger aircraft (over 100,309 pounds maximum takeoff weight [MTOW]) and certain foreign registered aircraft. If a TSA waiver is required but not noted on your flight plan, customs may question and possibly fine you. Determining factors for TSA waivers include country of registration, MTOW, and itinerary. Check with a 3rd-party provider for more information.

9. Can credit be arranged for all ground handling and other services?
Most locations accept credit for services, KGRB which accepts credit cards. In some cases, aviation fuel cards are accepted, but credit through the fixed base operator (FBO) might not be possible. Check with a 3rd-party provider or FBO in advance.

10. Is there anything that may complicate the tech stop or cause operational delays?
CIQ clearance is generally straightforward. There may be occasional complications with CIQ clearance during tech stops. This often has to do with non-U.S. nationals that have expired visas or other documentation issues. Customs may require baggage to be offloaded, but this depends on the customs official’s request. You’ll usually be permitted to leave your APU running. Keep in mind that international trash must be properly disposed of on landing. At other ‘CIQ tech stops – including KMIA, KEWR, KBOS and KLAS – the customs clearance process may be more rigorous. Its best practice to select tech stops with less likelihood of operational and CIQ delays. You’ll often run into traffic delays in the New York, Boston or Miami areas. It’s more common to encounter deicing requirements, and equipment delays, at PANC than at PAFA.

Conclusion
While outbound tech stops are generally straightforward, consideration must be given to customs clearance when operating to the U.S. (or when outbound clearance is required for charter [non-scheduled commercial] flights). User fee or landing rights airports may give you the best option in terms of great circle route and lack of congestion. However, they’re often less flexible in terms of schedule revisions.   To learn more about our International Tech Stops, please contact us by phone at 920.498.4880 or via email at manager@executiveair.com.

Executive Air and Aviation Advisors have teamed up to expand air charter service out of Green Bay, WI.

Executive Air has recently added two additional aircraft to its fleet of private jets under aircraft management Aviation Advisors.  The first addition is the Citation Excel, which is one of the most efficient and cost effective mid-sized jet aircraft available, and its impressive performance capabilities allow it to operate into many airports that comparable light jets can. The Citation Excel also has a greater range and flies at faster speeds than most light jets. Its comfort, performance, and reliability match Cessna’s high standards in private jet travel. In addition to a roomy interior, the cabin sports a modern style and fully enclosed lavatory. The Citation Excel is a solid, reliable private jet that can take you anywhere a mid-sized jet can go at the cost of light-jet travel.

The second addition to Executive Air’s fleet is the Citation II.  Citation II’s long club seating easily serves all business and leisure businesses.  It’s Comfort and Performance qualities make the Citation II a great regional aircraft for all types of travel.  For its flexibility and economy this is an attractive option.

Without a doubt, flying has become an integral part of modern society. From business professionals to travel enthusiasts, the speed and convenience of flying helps makes their aspirations a reality. However, even the most avid frequent flyer will admit that the experience isn’t always top-notch. Long lines, trips through security, uncomfortable seating accommodations, and flight delays all contribute to the feeling that air travel isn’t all it could be. However, if you fly by private aircraft charter, you can enjoy the many benefits that flying affords without the hassle and frustration that can come from major airlines.

Convenience   A private aircraft charter provides you with a great deal of convenience. Even with extremely short notice, you can use private charters to hop on a jet and head to your important business meeting, family emergency, or any other engagement. For major airlines, you typically need to reserve your seat weeks or months in advance, and even then, mistakes are costly and frustrating to resolve.
Speed- Because you’re not dealing with the size and bureaucracy of a major airline, there are many instances where you can arrange a direct flight to smaller airports and cities that a major airline can’t justify including on their itinerary. This means you can get where you need to go more quickly and directly. Most travelers remember certain times where they could have reached their destination in a short time if they could have just headed straight there, but their flight had to land in a major city instead. If you value being able to get to your destination quickly, without long waits in the airport, the private aircraft charter is an excellent solution.

Luxury- In essence, you are renting your own jet for an individual trip, similar to how you might hire a limousine on the ground. You might also think of it like a timeshare, but for a jet. Regardless of how you look at it, you can expect luxuries that you just couldn’t find on a commercial airline, such as sleeping quarters, excellent meal catering, Internet/fax machines, etc.

Flexibility- It just isn’t possible to give everyone excellent service on a commercial airline without having at least as many stewardesses as there are passengers. Fortunately, when you fly by private aircraft charter, you receive an unparalleled in-flight customer service experience. You can also choose among a number of different types of jets, from ultra- light up to heavy aircraft.

Reliability   One of the biggest benefits to flying by private aircraft charter is that it can work well with your busy schedule. If you find yourself needing to get somewhere quickly, you can figure out a way to get to your destination with a private charter. The reason why aircraft charters are different is that they take the level of customer service to a whole new level beyond what commercial airlines can achieve. Private jet charter service prides itself on catering to your needs and your schedule. These are just a few reasons why an aircraft charter is a superior means of air travel over commercial airlines. Whether you want to utilize one for business or leisure, a private aircraft charter gives you convenience, speed, luxury, flexibility, reliability and excellent service.

At Executive Air we are true travel professionals with vast expertise in providing a luxury travel experience, making sure every detail of your private air travel is perfect, meeting the highest standards of charter jet travel.

Does the purchase of Aviation Fuel play a major role in your FBO?

Aviation fuel producing companies total approximately only 30 separate corporations, therefore the blend choice and base or wholesale pricing of all aviation fuel here in the U.S. is rather limited. We are lucky as consumers here, as there exists far less freedom of choice in the rest of the world.

Very few of the raw product producing companies sell direct to the FBO network across this nation. Most of the product is sold and distributed through non-producing suppliers who obviously seek to make a profit from their endeavors.   Often an FBO also is unable to deal directly either with the nearest refinery, or fuel distributor because the airport at which they have chosen has a tenant agreement in place that requires all of the FBO that at based there to purchase their fuel through the airport or local municipal administration. The further away the supplying refinery, the greater the product cost.

Once the fuel makes it into the storage tanks of an FBO, the spot market price quoted by the commodities markets bears very little resemblance to the price that the FBO has paid, and is now ready to sell onto you. In the common situation where the FBO has been required to purchase its resale fuel from the landlord airport, the only way they are able to be price competitive to their neighboring FBO's either at the same field, or at other airports within the same city region/area, is to either reduce their overhead or to buy more fuel than their competitors thus receiving a discount from the airport, based upon how much they buy each month.

The distribution system that has been described above is pretty typical and thus makes a tough for any FBO that is faced with competition at the same airport, a contracting pilot population, and the current administrations attempts to smash the General Aviation into smithereens. Many of the FBO's that have chosen to build comfortable, amenities-rich, and visitor pleasing facilities that are staffed with well trained, competent and customer orientated staff, elect to charge a 'ramp fee.' This practice is widely viewed by many as being unfair, however you basically get what you pay for, i.e. if self-service pumps in the rain are the only service that you require, then you should expect to pay less than when you enter and exit through the smoked glass doors of an architectural wonder that serves coffee, cookies, has sleep, multi-media entertainment, flight planning rooms, courtesy cars, offers hangarage available to all transiting aircraft, and 24 hour guarded security.

Top Reasons to fly private aircraft charter

Executive Air is proud to partner with Wisconsin Aviation, Wisconsin’s premier air charter provider.  With that being said, let’s dive into the benefits of flying private.

Safety 1st, Let Executive Air KGRB handle your aircraft maintenance needs, whether it’s RVSM Checks, Oil Changes, or Annual Inspections.

Executive Air KGRB and the RVSM goal are to reduce the vertical separation above flight level (FL) 290 from the current 2000-ft minimum to 1000-ft minimum. This will allow aircraft to safely fly more optimum profiles, gain fuel savings and increase airspace capacity. The process of safely changing this separation standard requires a study to assess the actual performance of airspace users under the current separation (2000-ft) and potential performance under the new standard (1000-ft).

Equipment: Air Data Tester, Mode S Transponder

Let us help you with your RVSM and Recertification checks.  Call us at 920-498-4880 or visit our contact us page at www.executiveair.com to schedule an appointment with one or our certified technicians at Executive Air KGRB.

Why you have to change the oil in your aircraft?

The reason we change oil in our aircraft engines every 25 to 50 hours is not because it breaks down. It's because it gets contaminated after 25 to 50 hours in an aircraft engine. In fact, it gets downright filthy and nasty.  Dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) is a highly corrosive chemical that is produced in copious quantities during combustion. DHMO can cause great harm to costly engine components when it blows by the piston rings and contaminates the engine oil. You may be more familiar with DHMO's common chemical formula: H2O.

Compared with automotive engines, our piston aircraft engines permit a far greater quantity of combustion byproducts -- notably carbon, sulfur, oxides of nitrogen, raw fuel, partially burned fuel, plus massive quantities of the corrosive solvent dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO; see graphic at right) -- to leak past the piston rings and contaminate the crankcase. This yucky stuff is collectively referred to as "blow-by" and it's quite corrosive and harmful when it builds up in the oil and comes in contact with expensive, bottom-end engine parts like crankshafts, camshafts, lifters and gears.

To make matters worse, avgas is heavily laced with the octane improver tetraethyl lead (TEL), which also does nasty things when it blows by the rings and gets into the crankcase.

So one of the most important reasons that we need to change the oil regularly in our Continentals and Lycomings is to get rid of these blow-by contaminants before they build up to levels that are harmful to the engine's health.

Call us at 920-498-4880 or visit our contact us page at www.executiveair.com to schedule an appointment with one of our certified mechanics at Executive Air KGRB.

Safety 1st, Let Executive Air KGRB handle your Annual Inspections.

Any reciprocating engine or single-engine turbojet/turbopropeller-powered small aircraft (12,500 pounds and under) flown for business or pleasure and not flown for compensation or hire is required to be inspected at least annually. The inspection shall be performed by a certificated airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic who holds an inspection authorization (IA) by the manufacturer of the aircraft or by a certificated and appropriately rated repair station. The aircraft may not be operated unless the annual inspection has been performed within the preceding 12 calendar months. A period of 12 calendar months extends from any day of a month to the last day of the same month the following year. An aircraft overdue for an annual inspection may be operated under a Special Flight Permit issued by the FAA for the purpose of flying the aircraft to a location where the annual inspection can be performed. However, all applicable ADs that are due must be complied with before the flight.

Safety 1st, Let Executive Air KGRB handle your 100-Hour Inspection

All aircraft under 12,500 pounds (except turbojet/turbopropeller-powered multi-engine airplanes and turbine powered rotorcraft), used to carry passengers for hire, must have received a 100-hour inspection within the preceding 100 hours of time in service and have been approved for return to service. Additionally, an aircraft used for flight instruction for hire, when provided by the person giving the flight instruction, must also have received a 100-hour inspection. This inspection must be performed by an FAA-certificated A&P mechanic, an appropriately rated FAA-certificated repair station, or by the aircraft manufacturer. An annual inspection, or an inspection for the issuance of an Airworthiness Certificate may be substituted for a required 100-hour inspection. The 100-hour limitation may be exceeded by not more than 10 hours while en route to reach a place where the inspection can be done. The excess time used to reach a place where the inspection can be done must be included in computing the next 100 hours of time in service.

Call us at 920-498-4880 or visit our contact us page at www.executiveair.com to schedule an appointment with one of our certified mechanics at Executive Air KGRB.
